ฤดูร้อน ปี 1982 : วง X ก่อตั้งขึ้นโดย โยชิกิ และ โทชิ เป็นศูนย์กลางของวง

กุมภาพันธ์ ปี 1987 : โยชิกิ, โทชิ, ฮิเดะ, พาตะ และ ไทจิ เริ่มกิจกรรมต่างๆ

เมษายน ปี 1988 : อัลบั้มแรก Vanishing Vision ออกจำหน่ายผ่านทาง Extasy Records ค่ายอินดี้ของ โยชิกิ เอง ภายในสัปดาห์แรกที่ออกจำหน่าย ยอดผลิตแรก 10,000 แผ่นขายหมด ซึ่งถือเป็นปรากฏการณ์ที่ไม่เคยเกิดขึ้นมาก่อน ติดอยู่บนชาร์ตอินดี้เป็นเวลานาน และกลายเป็นอัลบั้มที่ขายยาวนานที่สุดตลอดกาลไปแล้ว ขณะเดียวกันก็เป็นอัลบั้มอินดี้ชุดแรกที่ติดอันดับบนชาร์ตเมเจอร์ด้วย

เมษายน ปี 1989 : อัลบั้มเมเจอร์ชุดแรก Blue Blood ออกจำหน่ายกับทาง CBS Sony ( ปัจจุบันคือ Sony Records ) สร้างปรากฏการณ์ยอดขายกว่า 600,000 แผ่นภายในหนึ่งปี ในยุคสมัยที่การขาย 100,000 แผ่นถือว่าประสบความสำเร็จอย่างสูงแล้ว ซิงเกิลที่ 2 Endless Rain ตัดออกมาในเดือนธันวาคมปีเดียวกัน และคว้ารางวัล Best Newcomer จาก Cable Radio Awards และรางวัล Best Selling Single by The Newcomer จาก Original Confidence 1989 Awards และรางวัลอื่นๆ อาทิ Japan Gold Disc Awards และอีกมากมาย ฮิเดะ เป็นคนให้กำเนิดคำว่า Visual – Kei อันหมายถึง วงดนตรีที่ใช้เมกอัพเยอะ และเครื่องแต่งกายสุดเวอร์ เขามีอิทธิพลต่อผู้ชมเป็นอย่างมาก และส่งผลให้ X กลายเป็นปรากฏการณ์ลือลั่นไปทั่วประเทศญี่ปุ่น

กรกฎาคม ปี 1991 : ออกอัลบั้มชุดที่ 2 Jealousy และเข้าชาร์ต Original Confidence ที่อันดับหนึ่ง ด้วยยอดขายกว่า 1 ล้านแผ่น พวกเขาขึ้นแสดงในรายการประจำปี Kohaku Utagassen ในวันสิ้นปี ซึ่งเป็นการพิสูจน์ได้ว่า พวกเขาเป็นวงร็อคที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในญี่ปุ่น

ปี 1992 : ในฐานะของศิลปินญี่ปุ่นรายแรกที่เปิดการแสดงที่ โตเกียวโดม สามวันรวด ด้วยยอดผู้ชมรวม 150,000 คน ปลายปีนั้นมีการจัดงนแถลงข่าวที่ Rockefeller Center ในนิวยอร์ก กับทาง Warner Music International เพื่อประกาศถึงการเซ็นสัญญากับค่าย Atlantic และเปลี่ยนชื่อวงเป็น X Japan รวมถึงการประกาศว่า ฮีธ เป็นมือเบสคนใหม่ของวง

ปี 1993 : ศิลปินญี่ปุ่นวงแรกที่ได้แสดงใน คอนเสิร์ตเคาน์ตดาวน์ ใน วันสิ้นปีที่โตเกียวโดม ตามด้วยการทัวร์ทั่วประเทศ และการแสดงในวันสิ้นปีอีกครั้ง โดยล้วนแต่เป็นคอนเสิร์ตที่ขายบัตรได้หมดเกลี้ยง และถูกจัดอันดับสูงมากในชาร์ตยอดขาย Original Confidence

พฤศจิกายน ปี 1996 : ออกอัลบั้มชุดที่ 3 Dahlia และเข้าชาร์ต Original Confidence ที่อันดับหนึ่ง ซิลเกิล Forever Love ตัดออกมาในปีนั้น และกลายเป็นเพลงธีมของ Japan’s Democratic Liberty Party เมื่อนายกรัฐมนตรีในเวลานั้น นายจุนอิชิโร โคอิซุมิ ยอมรับว่าเขาเป็นแฟนเพลงตัวยงของ X Japan และใช้เพลงนี้ในการหาเสียงของเขา

22 กันยายน ปี 1997 : การประกาศลาออกจากวงของ โทชิ มีการจัดงานแถลงข่าวด่วน เพื่อประกาศแยกวงอย่างเป็นทางการ ( มีแผนที่จะกลับมารวมวงกันอีกครั้งในปี 2000 แต่เนื่องจากการเสียชีวิตอย่างกระทันหันของ ฮิเดะ การรวมวงจึงไม่ได้เกิดขึ้น ) พวกเขาขึ้นแสดงในวันสิ้นปีที่โตเกียวโดม The Last Live และไปออกรายการ Kohaku Utagassen ซึ่งถือเป็นการแสดงปิดฉากตำนานของ X Japan

หลังจากแยกวง ความคลั่งไคล้ในการ์ตูนญี่ปุ่นก็เกิดขึ้นในต่างประเทศราวปี 2005 และในความคลั่งไคล้นั้น J Rock / Visual – Kei ก็เป็นที่สนใจขึ้นมาอีกครั้ง วงญี่ปุ่นรุ่นใหม่ๆ เริ่มออกไปแสดงในต่างประเทศ แต่ในฐานะต้นกำเนิดของแนวดนตรีนี้ X Japan จึงเป็นวงที่ได้รับความสนใจอย่างสูงอยู่เสมอ อันนำไปสู่การกลับมารวมวงกันอีกครั้งของ X Japan

ในปี 2007 I.V. เพลงใหม่ของ X Japan ก็ออกวางตลาดทั่วโลกอย่างเหนือความคาดหมาย SAW IV ที่ถือเป็นภาคล่าสุดของภาพยนตร์สยองขวัญชื่อก้องของฮอลลีวู้ด เลือกใช้เพลงนี้เป็นธีมหลักของเรื่อง ภาพยนตร์เรื่อง SAW IV เข้าสู่ชาร์ตบ็อกซ์ออฟฟิศของอเมริกาที่อันดับหนึ่ง และทั่วโลกก็สังเกตเห็นข้อเท็จจริงที่ไม่เคยเกิดขึ้นมาก่อน เพลงธีมโดยศิลปินญี่ปุ่น เป็นครั้งแรกในภาพยนตร์ฮลลลีวู้ด

มิวสิควิดีโอเพลง I.V. ถ่ายทำบนหลังคาของ Aqua City Odaiba ใน วันที่ 22 ตุลาคม 2007 เป็นการแสดงต่อหน้าสาธารณะสำหรับถ่ายมิวสิควิดีโอ ซึ่งแฟนเพลงกว่า 10,000 คนแห่กันมาดู และก่อให้เกิดการจลาจลขนาดย่อมๆ ขึ้นใน Odaiba

และในปี 2008 ในฐานะของวงร็อคระดับตำนาน X Japan จะคืนชีพให้กับกระแส J Rock / Visual – Kei ที่พวกเขาเป็นหัวหอกมาตั้งแต่ต้น ที่ Japanimation ได้รับความนิยมเพิ่มมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ในต่างประเทศ บวกกับความเคารพที่ X Japan ได้รับจากวงรุ่นใหม่ที่ในแวดวง Visual – Kei ในปัจจุบันนี้นั่นเอง

Summer 1982 : X’ Band was formed by Yochiki and Tochi, the band leaders.

February 1987: Yochiki, Tochi, Hide, Pata and Taiji started the band activity.

April 1988: The first album Vanishing Vision was released by Extasy Records, an indy company of Yochiki. Within the first week of sale, the total sales were 10,000 copies which were sold out. And that’s the fastest record of selling and still #1 top indie top chart for a long time. And still be the first album of longest selling period ever. Also the first indie album which was in Major top chart.

April 1989: The first Major album Blue Blood was released by CBS Sony (Sony Records – present) the overestimate sales were about 600,000 copies within a year compared by that time even only 10,000 copies sales was already highly successful. The second single Endless Rain was cut in December the same year and got The Best Newcomer from Cable Radio Awards and also The Best Selling Single by The Newcomer Original Confidence 1989 Awards and a lot more such as Japan Gold Disc Awards etc. Hide was the one who created a word
“Visual – Kei” which meant a band with overload makeup and fantasy costumes. He had a lot of influences to audiences and also effected “X” to be a popular phenomenon all over Japan.

July 1991: The second album Jealousy and was #1 on top of Original Confidence chart with over a million copies sales. They were in the annual concert Kohaku Utagassen in the New Year Eve. That’s also proved they were the best Rock band in Japan.

1992: As the first Japanese band who had a show at Tokyo Dome three days in a row with the number of audiences all over 150,000 people. Later that year there was a press arranged at Rockefeller Center, New York USA with Warner Music International to present a contract signing with Atlantic company and changed the name to “X-Japan” and also introduced a new member “Heath” as a bass guitar player.

1993: The first band that had a countdown concert in New Year Eve at Tokyo Dome, followed by a tour all over the country and the New Year concert again. Every concert’s tickets were sold out and were on top of sales chart from Original Confidence.

November 1996: The third album Dahlia and was on top of Original Confidence Chart with #1 single Forever Love was cut at the same year and also a theme song of Japan’s Democratic Liberty Party. The Prime minister was Mr. Junichi Koizumi confessed that he was a big fan of “X-Japan” and used this song for his campaign.

22 September 1997: A press arranged surprisingly of Tochi’s resignation and a separation from the band (the plan of rejoining would have been in 2000 but canceled because of a sudden death of Hide).They had a concert “The Last Live” at Tokyo Dome and joined the show Kohaku Utagassen, which was the last show of the legend “X-Japan”
After separation, craziness about Japanese Manga (Japanese’s comics) starting all over abroad about 2005 and also J-Rock/ Visual – Kei’s craziness came back again. New generations of Japanese band started their show abroad too, as a beginner of this type of band “X-Japan” was still welcome and led to the band reunite.

2007: I.V. a new song of “X-Japan” released worldwide. A film SAW IV the latest part of Hollywood horror movie used as an O.S.T and was #1 top chart in USA and show something never happened before of using Japanese song in Hollywood film.
MV of I.V was located on top of the roof of Aqua City Odaiba on 22nd October 2007; it was filmed in public with over 10,000 fans at the scene. There was a mob happened in Odaiba that day.

2008: As the rock legendary “X-Japan” is reviving of J Rock / Visual – Kei that they were the first one who invented this music style. Because they made Japanimation more popular worldwide so the new generations of Visual – Kei bands give them a respect nowadays.
